Gartly Community Association Charity Fun Dog Show: A Paw-some Success!

The Gartly Community Association Charity Fun Dog Show was a roaring success, bringing together dog lovers and supporters of furry friends from near and far. The event, held at the Tin Hut in Gartly on Sunday, July 9th, 2023, was filled with laughter, wagging tails, and heartwarming moments that will be cherished for years to come.


From the moment the gates opened at 10 am, the atmosphere was buzzing with excitement. Families and their four-legged companions gathered to participate in a variety of classes and competitions that showcased the incredible talents and lovable personalities of our furry friends.


The day kicked off with the "Waggiest Tail" category, sponsored by Tillyminate Timber Saw Mill.

Fern, the eight-year-old working Cocker Spaniel owned by George from Gartly, took home first place with her infectious tail wagging.


Sooty, the five-year-old Yorkie Poo owned by Joan from Gartly, secured second place with his energetic tail movements, followed closely by


Fletcher, the one-year-old Cockapoo entered by Derek from Huntly, and


Reggie, the five-year-old Staffie entered by Emma from Glass.



In the "Most Appealing Eyes" category, generously sponsored by Mrs V. Bennett,


Rosie, the Romanian street dog entered by Diane, stole everyone's hearts and clinched the first-place position.


Dora, the nine-year-old Miniature Dachshund cross Chihuahua with owner Susan from Huntly, mesmerized the judges and secured second place, while


Lexi, the six-year-old Collie owned by Steph from Lumsden, and


Ted, the Border Terrier entered by Lynn from Gartly, impressed with their captivating eyes.



The "Prettiest Bitch" category, sponsored by Stratosphere Wood Turning, showcased some truly beautiful dogs.


Tipsy, the Yorkie crossed with a Cockerpoo owned by Sara from Gartly, charmed the judges and emerged as the first-place winner.


Bella, the 2.5-year-old rescue Serbian street dog owned by Karen from Gartly, captured second place, followed by


Peanut, the nine-month-old Jack Russell entered by Oakley from Gartly, and


Belle, the Beagle owned by Emmeline from Keith.



The "Best Rescue" category, sponsored by the Tin Hut Sessions, highlighted the incredible stories of dogs who found their forever homes.


Archie, the five-year-old West Highland owned by Brenda, took home the first-place prize, followed by


Mita, the five-year-old Lab owned by Diane, and


Charlie, the 10-year-old Staffie owned by Emma.


Rosie, the Romanian street dog entered by Diane, also received recognition for her remarkable journey.



The "Handsomest Dog" category, privately sponsored but dedicated "For Woodie," showcased some dashing canines.


Hollie proudly presented Harold, a four-year-old Great Dane/Irish Wolfhound cross, who won over the judges with his striking appearance, securing the first-place position.


Flinder the one-year-old yellow Labrador presented by Adele, impressed with his handsome features and secured second place, while


Barnie Rubble, the 16-month-old Rough Border Collie entered by Chloe, and


John and Reggie, the Staffie duo, received well-deserved recognition.



In the "Dog the Judge would like to take home" category, sponsored by Dunnydeer Veterinary Group,


Anita's five-month-old Swiss Shepherd named Esther captured the hearts of all and secured the first-place prize.


Chief, the 12-year-old Collie entered and owned by Scott, impressed the judges and secured second place, followed by


Kara's two-year-old Labrador named Poppy and


Fern, the eight-year-old working Cocker Spaniel owned by George.



The "A Child's Best Friend" category, sponsored by Mac Farriers Ltd, showcased the special bond between children and their canine companions.


Rascal, the nine-month-old Jack Russell pup entered by Sandy from Gartly, captured the first-place position with his playful nature.


Belle, the Beagle owned by Emmeline from Keith, received second place, while


Kara's two-year-old Labrador named Poppy and


Beaufort, the two-year-old Jack Russell entered by Isaac and Josephine from Glass, received recognition for their friendship with their young owners.



The "Scruffiest Pal" category, sponsored by the Tin Hut Sessions, celebrated the unique charm of dogs with a more casual appearance.


Oakly and Bella claimed the first-place position, showcasing their lovable scruffy coats.


Hollie proudly presented Harold, the Great Dane/Irish Wolfhound cross, received second place, while


Penny, entered by Chloe from Gartly, impressed with her adorable scruffy appearance.


Finally Sooty, the five-year-old Yorkie Poo presented by Joan from Gartly cam in fourth.


The "Best Trick" category, sponsored by Kenneth McWilliam, our local coal merchant and storage, showcased the incredible talents of our four-legged friends.


Kara and her two-year-old Labrador named Poppy amazed the judges with their impressive tricks and secured the first-place position.


Tipsy, the Yorkie crossed with a Cockerpoo owned by Sara and Peter from Gartly, wowed the audience and received second place, followed by


Archie, the five-year-old West Highland owned by Molly from Keith, and



Lulu, the five-year-old Springer entered by Holly from Huntly.


For the final category of "Best In Show"

Harold and Hollie won the top spot with


Esther and Anita winning the reserve position.


We would also like to congratulate Peter Hare, the lucky winner of our raffle for a luxurious hamper. We hope you enjoy the fabulous goodies and thank you for your support!



And let's not forget the funniest comments about the dogs! Anna Kemp's dog Bella, who "likes to make friends with everyone in the pub," and Todd, who "always sings when going into Rhynie," took home the first-place position for the funniest comments. It's wonderful to see the unique personalities and quirks of our furry friends being celebrated.

The Gartly Community Association Charity Fun Dog Show not only provided a day of entertainment but also made a positive impact on the lives of dogs in need. Through partnerships with Santerpaws Rescue and the Basset Rescue Network of GB, we raised funds to support their invaluable work in caring for and finding loving homes for dogs.


We would like to congratulate all the winners, participants, and their furry friends for making the Gartly Community Association Charity Fun Dog Show an unforgettable event. Your presence and support made a significant difference, and we look forward to future events that celebrate our beloved companions and strengthen our community spirit.
